The
Masters of Science in Information Assurance (listed
as "InfAs" in the Iowa State Bulletin) is
a multidisciplinary degree supported by six departments
from three Iowa State Colleges. These are:
Computer Science
Electrical and Computer Engineering
Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering
Logistics, Operations and Management
Information Systems
Mathematics
Political Science
Because the Masters of Science in Information Assurance
is a multidisciplinary degree program and not a department,
all students in the degree program undertake their
studies from a home department. Any of
the six departments that support the Information Assurance
program can be home departments. Applicants
should choose a home department that best matches
their undergraduate course background and career goals.
You should be aware that:
- The
student's Research Advisor (or co-advisor) must
be a faculty member in the student's home department
and also affiliated with the Information Assurance
program.
- The
course study plan for Information Assurance students
is developed by students in consultation with their
Research Advisor. The InfAs Supervisory Committee
has set certain
course requirements for all students, and home
departments may add additional constraints.
Sample student
POS (Program of Study) are also provided.
- Applicants
apply directly to the Information Assurance program.
Once the applicant is accepted to the program, the
application will be forwarded to the relevant home
department. Acceptance by both the program and
the home department is required for admission to
Iowa State University.
Cybercorps
applicants: Please note that the SFS (scholarship
for service) requires a separate application in addition
to the application to graduate school.
The following section provides a summary of the minimal
admission requirements for each home department.
Each department uses their own application procedure,
and applicants are encouraged to visit the home department
web page for a detailed explanation on the application
process. In the following, GRE refers
to the Graduate Record Exam and TOEFL to the
Test of English as a Foreign Language.
